Job opportunity at Mellor Ware

I have a really exciting job opportunity here at Mellor Ware HQ! You will be given the opportunity to gain practical experience in the running of a successful creative business. It is a part-time position, 1-2 days a week for an initial period of 3 months. You will be working in Sheffield. This role is unpaid work experience, however, I will be able to cover costs of local travel, lunch expenses and the occasional surprise. This Saturday, Mellor Ware was featured in the marvelous Telegraph Magazine, in a feature by the lovely David Nicholls. Now I know what you're thinking, and you shouldn't worry, I have not branched out into taxidermy light fittings of our lovely British wildlife (even if the grey squirrel is an American import), the china tea party sets are the only products from me on that page! I'm so excited to have been picked out and showcased in front of their readership of millions! wow!

Liberty London!

Now you may or may not know that in April I went to the Liberty "Best of British" open call for designers. The day was absolutely incredible, and following a 3 minute pitch to Michelle Alger, the head buyer for home and gifts at Liberty, they placed an order with me! I am now pleased to announce that my Mellor Ware is now in store in their 3rd floor dining room department, and I couldn't be happier! If you're ever in London, go in and take a peek! Craft Candy Summer Fair!

I am very pleased to announce that I will be at the wonderful Craft Candy fair at Millenium Galleries, Sheffield. It's on Saturday 16th July and will be packed to the rafters with high quality, hand-selected, contemporary craft! It's free entry and is in walking distance from the city centre and Sheffield train station! It would be lovely to see you there! Give-A-Smile toys

In response to the devastating results of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, I have been working closely with British European Design Group and project called Give-A-Smile toys. The idea of the project is to give something back to the children of Japan, deeply affected by the horrific circumstances they have found themselves in. Although their physical needs are being met, and the public has been extremely generous with financial donations, we felt that we could help by giving the children something to cuddle and comfort them in their times of need. The project is currently at a trade show in Japan, building awareness and support for the project. We have even received some Japanese press coverage which is brilliant! I've been working very hard over the past few months, all in preparation for a very exciting development in the Mellor Ware world! I can't tell you all about it yet, but I can show you my first every catalogue. I'd love to know what you think!

Tea without the twee!

The Spring/Summer '11 edition of Frooly's wonderful catalogue features a short interview with me in my studio. Frooly have been really supportive of Mellor Ware since I signed up with them last September. They really champion local small businesses and are beginning to make a bit of a splash all over the country, with over 1000 businesses now signed up. Mellor Ware photoshoot!

Last week I had a fabulous photoshoot with Brendon Tyree! It started out with setting up a picnic table in Bingham Park Sheffield. As we were setting up the props, a very friendly Airedale Terrier came and tried his luck with a packet of Bakewell tarts! This was nothing compared to the last shoot of the day in Botanical Gardens. We set up the picnic and I was leaning against a tree when all of a sudden a small gang of squirrels appeared and began systematically stealing Viennese Whirls! It was as if one of my illustrations was actually coming to life, and made for a lovely shot! Wouldn't you agree?
